New network on communication impairment from a conversation analytical perspective

Antonia L. Krummheuer is funded by NOS-HS to organise a workshop series on communicative impairment in interaction. The aim of the workshops is to build a Nordic Network of Interaction Studies on Communication Impairment (NISCI).

Last modified: 01.07.2014

The exploratory workshop series is entitled “Communicative impairment in interaction. A Nordic perspective on the social organization of disordered talk”.

During the workshops series a select group of Nordic researchers will meet three times in Finland, Denmark and Sweden in the year 2014. The participants concentrate on their recent (Nordic) research on communication impairment within talk-in-interaction that shift the traditional (cognitive) perspective of impairment as a bodily (dys-)function within the individual, towards an interactionist and contextual understanding of sense-making as an emergent product of interaction. The workshop series aims to:

  • build a Nordic Network of Interaction Studies on Communication Impairment (NISCI) (www.nisci.aau.dk)
  • strengthen the collaboration of Nordic experts by engaging in further fundraising and joint publications;
  • invite (inter)national experts on the topic.
